Post-Production Thoughts

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

For a little over two decades after our high school graduation, we were on different paths pursuing our dreams, changing the world, starting our families, going on with our lives with nothing but flashes of reminders of our high school years. We stayed close to our little cliques and had a few reunions every now and then. But as our 25th anniversary approached, we rekindled our sisterhood. We picked up right where we left off like it was March 1985 all over again. New friendships formed, more get-togethers were held - sometimes for no reason at all. Then life happened. In the more recent years, we somehow strayed from each other for various reasons. We saw each other less, and got together for major or life changing events only. Sadly, even our political persuasions got in the way.

However, a recent death of a classmate tugged at heartstrings once more. It was time to set our differences aside and get together for the Coral Jubilee. Some of us even started making plans to make that trip home. Then the Pandemic happened. Travel plans changed and the Homecoming was cancelled. Stuck at home with nothing much to do, an idea was hatched to make our version of a "quarantine video". But true to Batch '85 form, we weren't content with a simple song and dance video produced using a free movie making app. In came the choreographers, sound engineers, video editors, music arrangers and copyright applications.

Mediocre is not our style. It always has to be THE best.

So we happily got out of our quarantined routine, some putting on make-up (or a bra!) for the first time in months, Donned our white tops and jeans and hammed it up for the camera. We bugged our kids and spouses to take the video, set-up the equipment or explain"what is Google Drive and why a video that's 5 minutes long take 4 hours to send???" .

So after 6 short weeks and hundreds of videos to sort through from over 100 participants, countless sleepless nights, enumerable hours of Zoom calls and video chats with Bernie, Vingle, Tina, Me-ann and Joyce (Marisa too when we were working with the vocal arrangement), a few butt calls and kilometric threads of group chats, we are proud to present the Maryknoll High School Class of '85 this awesome video. All the effort was truly worth it. No regrets. It was my honor and a pleasure to work with all of you who participated (yes, even those who attempted to do so but didn't make the cut).

We now have a video and a Web site. A few things that will always be there to remind us. Enjoy!

It was a pleasure to work with you, Maita! So with Tina, Bernie, Vingle and Me-ann. It did me some good as cabin fever was starting to kick-in since we’ve been in quarantine for more than 5 months due to the Covid Pandemic. It was a challenging Coral Jubilee presentation because we relied a lot on technology to keep things going. I learned a lot and I appreciate all our classmates’ efforts to try to come up with this video. Thank you for the opportunity to work and have fun with the best Maryknoll HS class ever! So selfless, talented and passionate. Thank you for putting up this website as repository of our High School graduation photos, homecoming videos, mini…
